The Columbiana Housing Authority is a public, non-profit organization dedicated to providing decent, safe, and affordable rental housing for low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities throughout the Alabaster and Shelby County area.

Established under the authority of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), we administer federal rental assistance programs including Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8), public housing, and the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program — ensuring that every resident has access to a place they can call home.

Complete our application online or in person at our Alabaster office. Required documents include proof of income, ID, and household size.

Wait for Placement

Applications are processed in the order received. You'll be notified when a suitable unit becomes available based on your family size.

Move In

Once approved, you'll receive a lease and orientation. Your rent will be calculated based on your verified income — transparent and fair.
